3 Ways To Have An Intimate Wedding In Puerto Rico

A lot of couples elope or have intimate weddings in Puerto Rico each year. Some couples elope while their cruise is at port in Old San Juan, others fly in to get married and then stay for their honeymoon. Some do it because they want to save money and others elope because they simply want to have special moment together.

What ever your reason to elope maybe, doing so in Puerto Rico is quite easy.

Today I will show case 3 different types of elopements or intimate weddings that I have planned and how I planned each of them.

Iris & Nikisha

Iris and Nikisha opted to have a beautiful symbolic ceremony on the beach in front of their 15 closest friends and family. This wedding took place on the beach at the InterContinental hotel in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico where they were staying (right next to the airport).

Their wedding consisted of:

  • An officiant to perform a symbolic non-denominational ceremony on the beach
  • A wedding photographer for 1 hour
  • A bouquet and boutonnière
  • 15 small welcome bags with local treats
  • Plus, a wedding planner

Since the couple was already legally married in their home state, they did not need to acquire a marriage license here which would have been around $200. After the ceremony the couple and their guests went to a local restaurant to celebrate.

Total cost: Aprox. $1500

Megan & Lawrence

Megan and Lawrence also had a beach wedding very similar to the previous one. But in this case only 5 people were in attendance. The couple and their witnesses.

This wedding took place in the town of Luquillo in a small beach right off of Playa La Pared where they had a legal and religious non-denominational ceremony.

This wedding consisted of:

  • Local marriage license
  • Officiant
  • Photographer
  • Small wedding cake
  • Bouquet and boutonnière
  • And of course, a wedding planner

After the ceremony the couple and their guests drove to San Juan for a formal dinner at an upscale restaurant.

Total cost of wedding: $2000

Debra & Garry

Debra and Garry’s intimate wedding is very different from the previous two. The couple had a gorgeous symbolic religious ceremony at Castillo San Cristobal in Old San Juan followed by a small reception for a total of 12 guests at the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel.

This wedding consisted of:

  • Ceremony venue permit
  • Antique rental car for the couple
  • Transportation for guests from hotel to castle and back again
  • Officiant
  • Photographer
  • Dj for ceremony and reception
  • Decor and flowers for ceremony and reception
  • Hotel food and beverage and reception venue
  • Wedding cake
  • Gift bags for guests
  • And of course, a wedding planner

Total cost of wedding: Aprox. $8000

Of course the total cost of the wedding depends on the details you choose, but having a stunning and budget friendly intimate wedding is completely doable in Puerto Rico.

If this is something that interests you then let’s work together!
